AMK Promotes the quality of Education in Cambodia
Phnom Penh: AMK Microfinance Institution Plc. was the main sponsor of the workshop on “Why Educaton Matters” held on Saturday, January 14, 2017 at the Institute of Technology of Cambodia and hosted by Westline Education Group (WEG).
Education in Cambodia performs rapid growth in the last few years. In particular, many universities have been established in the cities and provinces. Even students from low-income families get the chance to finish their degrees from universities making it easier for them to find employment in companies and organizations of various sectors. Education experts cannot emphasize more the importance of education in the development of the country and its level of competitiveness being a member of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN 10).
“The development of education is crucial and if the education has no quality, our neighboring countries would grab all the lucrative jobs. Seeing the importance of education aligns with AMK’s mission to achieve both financial and social output thus AMK always sponsor and support various social activities, including the education sector.” Mr. Nang Kinal, Head of Marketing and Communication of AMK. He said that “To develop one country, education plays a vital role. Without the quality of education, this country will face many arising issues. The course curriculum of universities have to match the need to develop in every sector in the world, especially technology”.
He added that “AMK is a main sponsor in this conference because we are also a part of this country, Cambodia, to contribute to educational development sector, which is the key success to produce quality human resources in Cambodia to compete with other ASEAN countries”. This conference was also attended by many national and international speakers who made presentations on education issues and on ways to help to improve the quality of education in Cambodia.
AMK is a leading Microfinance Institution in terms of outreach and borrower numbers. As of December 2016, AMK has a total staff of 2.300 and clients of over 520,000 with a loan portfolio of around USD149 million. The number of offices have reached 152 and 2,500 Agents nationwide.
